The Heart's Game
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
The Hearts Game is a physics based 3D platformer about the Heart's journey through grief. Collect pictures, obtain special abilities, and solve puzzles as you journey through a metaphorical world with a cast of odd characters.
Unique features include:
- A respect for Newton's 3 laws ~90% of the time
- 4 unlockable abilities
- A heart-rate system that increases the Heart's speed and jump at higher heart rates
- A draining health bar that is linked to the heart rate as well
- Meta-4s!
- Some of my brother's amazing concept art
The game is currently in development, and I'm appreciative of any and all feedback (or questions) as I continue.
I'm very excited to share anything new as development trudges on. This project is a direct evolution of one of my previous projects. You can check it out here: https://green-panda-studios.itch.io/painless. The atmospheric direction is similar, so if you like the feel, you'll probably enjoy this.
Drop a comment below or check out the Devlog. This helps me know people are seeing what's out there so far. I'm looking forward to both good and bad feedback from the community.
Can't wait to share more!

Wanted to play your game, but I can't get it to start on MacOS 11 Big Sur. It says I have no rights to open it, but I am the administrator of the iMac I'm using. It seems to be a more common issue on Big Sur, but strangely there are many applications and games that work just fine when downloading and others that unfortunately don't. Maybe it's solvable by exporting the game with different settings but I really don't know.
Hi! I'm sorry you're having issues trying to get this to run. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a Mac to test any of the builds, so I'm not aware of anything I can do or not do to package it differently.
I could be wrong, but after poking around a bit, it seems this is a Big Sur problem, and not something I can fix on my end. Someone said this worked for them:
Forum Link
Try that for me, and if it doesn't work I'll read into it more to see if there is something I can do differently. I appreciate you reaching out with the issue nonetheless, because if it's something I need to fix, I would have never known.
It doesn't seem to work for me. Tried a couple other solutions posted on that site and couldn't do it.
Yes, I think it is a problem with the OS I'm running, but it's strange that I can run most other games, but not yours unfortunately. So I assume there could be something you can do. I could be wrong however. I looked up some details about your game and assume, you built it with Unity (?).
I have found this on the web, which might helps: https://forum.unity.com/threads/issue-opening-unity-mac-applications-on-mac-big-...
Let me know if you can figure it out :)
Yes, I'm working in Unity. I did see that post a little earlier while I was looking into this, so I will see if I can make those changes and publish a new build.
If I am able to put one up, I'll be sure to let you know!
Okay, so I've spent a while reading about this. Windows has no understanding of something called "executable bits", but this is something both Linux and MacOS use. It is impossible to add this on windows. So, I needed to emulate either a MacOS or Linux Terminal to add these executable bits.
As far as I know, there is no reliable Mac terminal emulator for windows, so I used Linux. Anyway, I jumped through a lot of hoops, and I feel like it may have just completely broke the build, but I did put a new one up; hopefully this works.
Please let me know, so I can try again if it's still not right
Still doesn't work unfortunately, same issue as before :/
I'm sorry, but I really do appreciate you trying so many times. Until I have access to a Mac, I don't think there's anything I can do.
You're welcome to mess around with the game files and try following that post you sent me, but I'm afraid I can't do anything for the time being.
Hey Green Panda Studios! I was wondering if I could share a certain type of 2021 3D Platformer game I thought of?
Hi there Green Panda Studios! I was wondering if I could show you a certain idea for my own Xbox One Action-adventure/3D platform Cute-as-heck video game I thought of? Here, I'll show you the details of the game I wrote down!
So this was... sorta a lil bit of my own Xbox One video game idea I thought of in my mind a long time ago. So, here's what I've got:
Genre: Action/Adventure/ 3D Platformer/ Cute-as-heck
So the idea for my game is that it will be a cool new 2021 Cute-as heck type 3D platformer game. The main character you control in it is a cute humanoid pufferfish hero boy by who I called "Puff Cuff". So basically, Puff Cuff has cool water element power's, let being able to shoot jet's of water from his mouth. There will also be many world's to explore in the game, such as bustling huge cities, large lush forest's, and flaming fire-infused island's. I also thought of some cool boss battle idea's, such as robotic animal's and other type's of thing's.
Now, enough of the idea plot. Time to get to the character's:
Puff Cuff: The main hero. A cute short-sized humanoid pufferfish boy, who wear's a cool spikey jacket in the appearance of a pufferfish, that is colored light-yellow and turquoise. Wear's a cool set of water-blue boxing glove's, with cool silver spike's on the knuckles of the gloves. Wear's long baggy blue pant's that droop down his feet, and silver shoes on his feet. Was sent from an elemental god to save the world from a evil overlord.
Attack move's:
Water punch: The basic attack Puff Cuff uses. Does a soft punch attack of water by the player pressing the X button on the Xbox One controller.
Low Thrust: A secondary attack of the game. Causes Puff Cuff to do a kick spinning on the ground and swiping at the foes, by the player presses the X button twice on the Xbox controller.
Spike Missile: A normal attack by holding the X button on the remote and letting go, causing the spike's on Puff Cuff's glove's to shoot at his foes and cause a blast of water to go off.
Jump: The normal jump move. Able to use by pressing the A button on the Xbox one remote.
There will also be some other cool thing's in the game, such as special power up's that transform Puff Cuff into special form's with different elemental power's and abilities, such as Earth power flower, a Electric power mushroom, a fire-power up shaped like a cloud, and many other's!
Oh, and also one other thing. The game will actually be a free-to-play Xbox One game, that will be put into the Free game section of the Microsoft Store, that is labeled "Top Free". I also would like if anyone ever see's this to try to get in contact with any Xbox One 3D platformer developer's to see if they can try making this in .
Hello!
The comments section of this thread isn't really the place to discuss something like this. If you join the Discord using the link above, we could DM there if you would like.
Or feel free to send a DM on Instagram as well
This is already off to such a good start, the mechanics are good and it looks great! There's real potential here for a really really strong and emotional story!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for all the feedback! You've definitely given me a lot to work with, and I see myself going back to this video often as I tweak the game in future builds.
(I haven't figured out why yet, but some computers don't seem to like the fire shader and it gets all green and weird, so that's something I'll be addressing soon)
Ah interesting! I didn't even question why the fire was green, I just assumed that was the aesthetic you were going for, haha. I'm pleased it was helpful! I'll definitely be checking out any future builds you publish!
This game is really cool the art style is really nice. The msuic was so calming and relalxing the movement felt nice but sometimes the camera felt a bit odd maybe because i haven't played many third person games on my pc. Still it was a really cool game and the menus felt cool. Good game.
Thank you so much for all the feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
As far as the camera goes, was there anything specific you found odd, or it just felt "off" in some way? If you can give me an example, that would work wonders to help me improve the game in future builds. Regardless, thank you for playing! I greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so sometimes it felt a bit blurry or would get caught on walls then zoom inside the player
Okay, gotcha. I'll definitely see what I can do about that.
Hi, I've made a video about your game and wanted to give you some feedback about it, hopefully it's useful to you :)
-The visual style is quite awesome :D I really loved it.-The main game mechanics are quite well thought and are really interesting.
-The only thing I've found hard to do is jumping well on the bouncy platform,
-Characters look interesting and dialogues feel quite interesting in my opinion.
In conclusion, the idea is great and I hope you keep working on making more games like this. Hopefully this is useful for you :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)
Regards
Hi! Its unbelievably useful for me to watch gameplay and hear feedback, so thank you so much for doing that.
Thank you for the compliment as well, that means a lot.
To address the bouncy platform issue: I've seen a few people struggle with these, and you've made it clear that I should work on demonstrating what their use is. While you can get some height jumping on them, their main use is to bounce you back up whatever distance you fell from. As I continue working on the game, I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Thanks for trying it out! I'd love to see a full walkthrough of the demo
great :D you are welcome, good luck with the development :)
massive 64 vibes, love it man. I really hope you continue making stuff,
Thanks! It means a ton when people reach out, so I appreciate that.
I'm still actively developing the game, but I am a full-time software engineering student, so it doesn't go as quickly as I'd like. That said, I have every intention to finish it.

good
Thank you for playing!
How do I download it?
I'm so sorry, I had an incorrect setting in the game's metadata. You should be able to download it now.
Thank you for saying something! I would have left it like that if nobody said anything
No worries haha!
